Tide Shard
Dawnshard · Major
What It Is
The Tide Shard is the second Crown fragment, held within the memory sanctuary beneath Lake Auriel. Unlike Ember’s guarded reliquary, Tide is released through participation in the sanctuary’s memory system. Each hero contributes a memory before the mechanism yields the shard, linking this fragment directly to the campaign’s recurring theme of memory as a real magical resource.
History & Provenance
Preserved beneath Lake Auriel
Role in the Story
Tide reveals the operating principle behind the Crown and foreshadows the cost of restoring it. The sanctuary surrounding the shard demonstrates that memory can be preserved, manifested, exchanged, and consumed. Selvara's confrontation during the recovery also reframes the party's objective by warning that assembling the Crown may recreate a danger Seraphine deliberately interrupted.
