Prior Halvek

Prior Halvek was the last guardian of the Ember Shard at the ruined Monastery of Saint Orien. His oath persisted beyond his living body and became a corrupted shadow-bound vigil. He attacked anyone approaching the reliquary while repeating fragments of the command to keep Ember from an unworthy claimant. When the party broke the corruption, Halvek briefly regained lucidity and warned that Seraphine expected the Crown might someday be needed again but feared anyone certain they deserved to wield it.

Halvek gives the first Dawnshard a history of stewardship rather than making it unattended treasure. His corrupted oath demonstrates that even protection can become harmful when duty survives without judgment, anticipating the later revelation that the Crown amplifies conviction. His final warning shapes the party’s caution toward restoration. His story is closed at Saint Orien: the party ends the vigil and does not treat him as an ongoing source after death.
