Chancellor Oren Valec

Oren Valec served as Chancellor of Aurelis before the party exposed his financing of Eclipse operations and control over compromised Guard officers. He used legitimate authority to move money, request sensitive records, trace Veiled Flame bloodlines, and position loyal personnel without openly declaring allegiance to the Eclipse Court. When confronted before the royal council, he activated a prepared coup, escaped with the royal seal, and later used it to force the Sun Gate partially open. The party captured him during the siege.

Valec is the conspiracy’s political architect inside Dawnwatch, not its ultimate leader. He demonstrates how the Eclipse Court converted ordinary state systems—finances, archive access, Guard assignments, mint production, and royal infrastructure—into covert resources. His capture closes the conspiracy’s hidden political phase and reveals that Selvara and the Regent value objectives beyond Valec’s ambitions. Alive and imprisoned, he remains a source of established intelligence about the compromised Guard and Eclipse logistics.
